The slap bass is awesome. On the other hand, the melody which starts at 0:25 plays random notes and it's not really enjoyable. Such a brutal transition at 1:42. The melody is cool tho.
Keep it up,

Aight thanks bro

Nice track! The audio is damn quiet, you should normalize it. The track is a little bit repetitive. I love the percs.
Nice job on this one,

Got it. How many decibels increase would you say was enough?

The chords are basic but cool, I recommend you to change the pattern to give them a more unique vibe. It really lacks of sidechain to make your track bump. The kick is barely hearable. The drums samples are very weak and not really loud. I like the melody. Also it lacks of a solid structure, I mean intro / buildup / drop.

Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I'll definitely make my drum samples louder when I do future songs, as well as the song I was making before I read this.
As for lacking structure, I can see what you mean. The drop buildup and the drop itself sound a little muddy structure-wise, and I think that it's because I had too much going into the buildup. In the future, if I ever have that problem again, I'll just do a simple master cutoff transition. I didn't really spend as much time on this song as I do on others (I only spent 4 hours on this one), so that could have been a problem as well.

Once again, thanks for telling me how I can improve. I really appreciate it :D

The ambiance is really enjoyable. The kick is a bit weird. It lacks of more solid sub frequencies, and the background chords are really loud. The low-pass automation at 1:04 is useless in my opinion (it creates some not necessary movement which breaks down the song). Love the percs at 1:16 <3 and also the other orchestral elements after, well done. Sad the song is not longer.

DASTiRL responds:

Thank you for the constructive feedback! Yeah, now that I listen closely, the kick is somewhat lacking in sub. As for 1:04, I low-passed to transition smoothly into the next quieter segment.

The composition sounds a little bit random, not bad tho. All I have to say is that some instruments could be less cheap. Also a little bit of EQ on some instruments like the arp would be cool it doesn't clash with the rest.

Thank you for the review! I tried to work with what I have. I've been using MuLabs for the compositions, but do you have other suggestions or tips?

The song is pretty cool, what did you use to compose it? It pretty well mixed, but it sounds like it lacks of sidechain on your 808 and like if there's a limiter on your master, which breaks down the song. Some parts are a little bit repetitive.

Namnotwastaken responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I used some kinda app that lets you mix parts of song or just make your own beats and make music.

The guitar sounds really cool, did you record it yourself? The kick could be stronger. The atmosphere of the song is really pleasant, well done.

HermanitoCorp responds:

Yes I did record it, thanks for the feedback!

The piano sounds really dry. The supersaw chords have to be sidechained, it cuts the mix unless. The lead is really cool but the PWM modulation goes way too far. Remove that limiter on your master to avoid overcompression. I recommend you to make busses for effects. I don't really like the chords but damn the melody is so good o_O.
Good job mate, keep it up!

The-Mad-Duck responds:

Hello Ahurac,

Most of the choices I made here are intentional. If you are looking for a piano, that is actually a guitar that is dropped two octaves and then slightly bitcrushed. The supersaw chords were not sidechained because they are meant to stand out more, as as you said cut the mix. I took a look at your style and actually noticed some differences between you and me; I would honestly make your chords more audible, but it's just stylistic differences. Your bass is very heavy, and as a bass junkie I respect that, but it is so loud that only your drums and melody escape it. The lead is overdosed on PWM modulation because it just sounded cool, to be honest :P. Since I wanted the chords to stand out as well, the extra modulation creates a waving pattern that makes it stand out more.

Thanks for your feedback on the compression however, I did not notice it was compressed and it must have done that by default.
